Dr. Christi Hill
Dr. Hill is originally from South
Dakota. She holds undergraduate
degrees in Biology and Chemistry,
both obtained from Drake University
in Des Moines, Iowa in 1994. Christi
went on to Vet school at Iowa State
University, where she graduated in
2003 with a DVM degree. She then
completed a one year internship at
a surgical/medical referral center
near Portland, Oregon and came to
Battenkill Equine in January of 2005.
Dr. Hill has a special interest in
medicine and neonatal foal care.
Dr. Kurt Lutgens
Dr. Kurt Lutgens is the owner and founder of Battenkill Veterinary Equine. He
graduated from Cornell University Vet School with his DVM degree in 1978 and
began practicing on all large and small animals. He ultimately decided to practice
exclusively on horses in 1987. Dr. Lutgens has vast knowledge and experience in
all facets of Equine medicine and is especially proficient in lameness and
reproduction.
In his precious spare time he has raised three sons and enjoys boating, fishing
camping, scuba diving and working around his own farm.


Dr. Sarah Begley
Dr. Begley was born and raised in
Tennessee. She graduated from the
University of Tennessee College of
Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and
completed an internship in Equine
Medicine and Surgery at Peterson and
Smith during the years of 2001-2002.
Dr. Begley moved to Greenwich, NY in
2002. She has been practicing equine
medicine for over nine years, and has a
special interest in reproduction,
neonatology, and opthamology.
A lifelong horse enthusiast, Sarah is
currently training in three day eventing
and dressage with her Thoroughbred
Diego and her Standardbred Brandi.







Dr. Benjamin Anderson
Dr. Benjamin Anderson is originally from
Spring Green, Wisconsin. Ben attended
Ross University for the first three years of
veterinary school and transferred to the
University of Missouri for his final year. He
graduated with his DVM in 2009. Ben also
attended farrier school, graduating in 2000.
Dr. Anderson practiced in Tennessee for one
year before moving to New York with his
family and joining our practice. He has a
special interest in lameness and
preventative medicine.
Ben enjoys spending time with his family and
being outdoors.
